Letter #8. Meetings with all the missionaries and a trip to Isla Mujeres. 10/15-10/17 2021

They had two conferences that they got to attend.  One half of the mission at each one.  They took up the whole day and they just loved them.  Both Papa and Grammie think it was so fun to get to be with all the missionaries!  Above are the pictures of the whole group at each conference.

Some of their favorite office missionaries!

President Marin talking to the group

Two sweet sister missionaries from Utah!

Elder Tirado who just finished his mission!  He is from
Tijuana so they are pretty sure they will see him again!

Grammie Tammie says we have to go do something really fun every now and then or she will go crazy!  Haha!  So below are some pictures from a fun weekend that they spent on Isla Mujeres

Here is a view of Isla Mujeres as they are arriving on the ferry

They saw all of these bicycle carts waiting for the ferry to arrive and they wondered why they were right there on the dock

Then they saw why!  Many people who live on the island or are moving to the island need help with all of their items.  This guy really loaded up his cart!!

Their hotel was much nicer this time!

This was their view from the balcony of their room!

Very nice room!

Really pretty view from the hotel restaurant

And the food was yummy!

After dinner they walked down to the beach area that was right by the restaurant

The next day they headed out on their golf cart!

They went snorkeling here!  It was so much fun.  Grammie Tammie said that as soon as she stepped into the water all of these smaller black and yellow striped fish gathered around her legs.  She even felt one nip at her leg!  She had never seen such a thing!!  So she kept swooshing them away while she got her fins on.  Right away she saw some really big parrot fish!  She had not seen those since she was a little girl living in Mexico.  Her dad had caught a really big one and they had a picture of two of her siblings on the back of the fish.  They are so pretty with rainbow colors and have a funny little beak.  When they were done snorkeling and getting out of the water Grammie saw why the fish had gathered around her legs and why one of them took a nip at her.  There were some local teens with little bags of food dropping it into the water and tons of those fish were gathered around them!  Those fish were trained!  When they saw legs they expected food!  Grammie thought that was so funny.  She noticed the bags of food on the counter for sale when they were leaving!

On Sunday they went to church at the cute little chapel in Isla Mujeres.  The one family who comes all of the time was there and after the first meeting the dad said he had to leave but would be back.  Everyone else attended the Sunday School lesson.  When they were done in he came with this most delicious Red Snapper that he had gone home to grill.  They also had a big bowl of ceviche and a bunch of corn tortillas and saltine crackers!  They had a feast!  It was a really nice time visiting with everyone.  Papa and Grammie are finally speaking spanish and understanding spanish much better!

When the meeting is over they head to the corner where Papa works on hailing a cab to take them back to “Ultramar” the place where they go to take the Ferry back to Cancun.  It was a very nice weekend for them!
