Letter #2. Last week in MTC and Arrival in Mexico! August 22, 2021

 Hola!

It’s me, Pepito!  Sorry I have not written for 2 weeks—-but we have been so busy!   The second week in the MTC was just as busy as the first one!

Here are some pictures of the MTC and also the class your Papa Ben and Grammie Tammie were in.

Here is a good friend that Grammie Tammie made during this class.  She and her husband are in the London mission.  They will be working in the office there!

Here are some of the teachers they had.  They were teaching them all about the things you have to take care of in a mission office:

This sweet lady and her husband had a son who sent over treats all the time!  He wanted to make sure they were popular with their classmates!  Haha! She and her husband were going to Florida on their mission.  Her husband is a doctor and will be the medical advisor for their mission.  She will be working in the office!

This picture is of everyone in their class at their tables!

Grammie and Papa had to get up very early to go to the airport on Saturday August 14th.  I was too sleepy to take a picture of them….sorry amigos!

Once they got to Cancun their mission president and his wife picked them up.  Here is a picture of their mission president and his family.  Their daughter just got back from serving a mission in Richmond, Virginia mission.  The two youngest are the only ones who live with them in Cancun.  Their youngest son just got his mission call and had opened it the day before.  He is going to the Addis Ababa Ethiopia mission and he will be learning the Amaharic language!!  They all came to visit and be together as a family for these two great events!!

They had a fun surprise!  Some friends of theirs in Fallbrook, the Rodriguez family, were visiting the Marin family.  They all took Papa and Grammie out to dinner and brought them to their new condo.  Then they took them to the grocery store to get some things so they would have something to eat!

Here are some pictures of the condo.  They have a pool in the complex too that they are excited to be able to swim laps in.  It is too hot here to do anything other exercise but swim when you are outside!

Bedroom with King size bed- not much room for     anything but the bed!
Their little tiny oven!  You can fit a 8x8 pan in there!

                             Stair way to the bedrooms
                          Dinning room off the kitchen
Living room and a table they use as a desk
                                        Kitchen
TV and air conditioner in their room
Open closet with shelves and 2 drawers in each of the rooms
The lovely swimming pool!  They go early in the morning to swim laps a few times a weeks!
Papa Ben walking to the pool!
Papa Ben coming  out the front door

I heard them say that they feel so very lucky to have such a nice place to live!

The first day that they came to the mission office all the missionaries sang a song for them.  This is the picture of them singing as they came through the door.  They were singing in Spanish the song “Called to Serve”.  It made Grammie Tammie cry!  I heard her say that she just loves these missionaries!  She thinks they are such good kids!

Here are some pictures of the office where Papa and Grammie go to work Monday through Friday. At least that is what they did when they first got here.  Things have changed a little bit since then.  I will tell you more about that in my next letter!

This is what the outside of the office looks like

Most people here live in houses that look like this:

The streets are not very good.  They have no lines to divide the lanes and people drive crazy!  I heard Grammie Tammie tell Papa Ben that she will probably not be driving while she is here!

On their anniversary they got off from the office early and went to the Zona Hotelera which means the Hotel Zone.  They could not believe how pretty it was over there.  They felt like they entered a different world!

There were lines on the street— it was clean—-there were nice buildings and parks!

Then they stopped at the prettiest beach with such warm water!!

They even saw this cute iguana on the walk-way:

Then they ate dinner at a yummy restaurant!  They brought out a dessert with a big sparkler in it!

It was a great 42nd wedding anniversary!

They are getting settled in.  They have made lots of trips to Walmart to get things they need.  They also have gone to Costco a few times— I heard Grammie Tammie say she LOVES Costco!  Makes her feel like she is home!

I took this picture of Grammie Tammie!  She seemed happy to be in comfy clothes making dinner!  She told Papa Ben that she misses all her cooking tools - but she said this is not forever and she can make do!

I heard them say they are sure glad they have air conditioning because it is really hot here!

Oh I almost forgot to tell you that they had a hurricane come to where they live!  Luckily it turned into a tropical storm as soon as it hit land—but it woke them up at 3:30 in the morning on Thursday.  It was shaking their windows because the wind was blowing so hard.  They got to stay home that day.  It rained all day long!!

Well Amigos— that is all for today!  They have the digital frame you gave them in their living room and they look everyday to see if there are more pictures of the people they love the most in all the world.  That is you— mis amigos!  Be good and study hard in school !   Your Grammie Tammie and Papa Ben love you so much….I hear them all the time talk about all of you and I always hear them pray for you!

ADIOS!!

Pepito
