Letter #10 Our trip to “Ideal” part of the Leona Vicario Branch 11/5/21
Hola Amigos- So I am not going to get behind in my letters to you anymore! I am back to tell you about what happened this past Friday Nov. 5th, 2021:
Papa and Grammie picked up the President of the Leona Vicario branch and headed out to an area that was about a 45 min drive away from Leona Vicario called “Ideal”
There is a large group of people there who are members of their church but they live too far away to come to Sunday meetings. There is a Dad and Mom who live in a house that has a big outdoor patio. They have 4 children. There is 1 son and 3 daughters. All of their children are married and they 6 grandchildren. The 3 daughters all live in small little homes close by their parents and the son and his wife live with them right now since they have only been married about 3 months. But they all live right there so its almost like they live together.
Grammie Tammie and Papa Ben loved seeing all of their grandkids. It reminded them of home. (They really miss all of their grandkids!).
This little boy wanted to take a selfie with Grammie Tammie and the little girl joined in!
They had a cute puppy (I forgot to take a picture of him)
He is down in a pit and the are looking at him.
This is a little hut they have built for one of their daughters and her husband and 2 kids. They plan on making it nice eventually
Another view of the puppy and Papa and the kids
Grammie Tammie brought ring pops for all the kids. Here is a a picture of a cute little girl and her ring pop.
Here is the Mama of the family sitting in the big patio. Behind her are the propane gas tanks that are hooked up to the stove in the kitchen. She was such a nice lady and you can tell she loves her grandkids!
Here are 2 of the daughters and the daughter-in-law making the main meal. The one there in front is someone Grammie Tammie really liked. She had the cutest personality. When it was time to eat they fed just Papa, Grammie and Pres. Oseguera. They pulled over one of their plastic tables and brought out 3 plates of food and 2 big litter bottles of orange fanta and this other brand of cola. Papa and Grammie now always have bottled water with them and they tell them that they are pre-diabetic and can’t drink sugar soda! The are not sure where they were while they ate….maybe in the kitchen eating. It was as if they were a the honored guest. They are such sweet people!
Here is another little boy who wanted a picture with Grammie!
On the left is President Oseguera. He is 38 years old and such a good guy! Papa and Grammie have come to really love him as they watch how much he loves the people he serves in this area! He and his wife have 3 children and they have been taking care of their niece and nephew right now too. In the middle is one of the grandchildren and to the right is Abuelito Martinez. Such a good man with a lot of love for his family. Right now they are building the Mayan Train through this area and all the men work on it for extra income.
Here are 2 of the little boys. I think these two area cousins. They were all busy playing while we were there!
This is another family they went to see. This woman has 4 children and about a year ago she had a baby who died 3 days after it was born. That is her oldest son by her. They saw her husband leave while they were visiting her. He did not say hello. He was not very friendly….Then they also saw a man come out one door and go into another one and they found out that is her brother who lives with them. Their houses are so small. They could not believe how many people lived in that house!
They will be going to church with this group 2 times a month. It will take about 1 1/2 hours to get there from their house and they will be bringing two young missionaries with them. They hope to get 35 people attending regularly and once they do they will be able to rent a small place and have it all fixed up as a chapel for them!
Adios for now mis Amigos!!
From Brody: “I love it!”
